Montauk is the easternmost point on Long Island — a terminal-moraine landscape of rolling hills and rocky soil very different from the outwash plains across the rest of the South Fork. From the Village downtown by Fort Pond Bay, through Hither Hills to the west, Ditch Plains and the surf-break blocks to the southwest, Lake Montauk and the harbor, Culloden Point on the north shore, and the Lighthouse end with its open dunes and exposed Atlantic frontage, this is the most extreme growing environment in the Hamptons. Salt-air comes off open ocean on three sides, and the moraine soil shifts from sandy to clay-loam to outright cobble within a quarter mile. The lawn has to be built for the site and rooted deep, or it doesn't make it through August.
CT Sod has been delivering and installing sod across the South Fork for years. Pallets are cut to order at the farm the morning of your install, hauled out to the East End, placed exactly where you need them by all-terrain forklift — even up a steep rocky drive or across a soft-sand track near the dunes — and laid by crews whose only job is sod, not general landscaping.
Your sod is cut at the farm the morning of installation — never stockpiled. Fresh sod establishes faster and handles the three-sided salt-wind and shifting moraine soil that finish a stockpiled pallet within a week of delivery.
Hither Hills, the Village, Ditch Plains, Lake Montauk, Culloden Point, the Lighthouse end, the harbor area, and the Napeague border — we install across every Montauk block and know the rocky-grade access, soft-sand dune tracks, and salt-wind variety calls before we get there.
A Montauk driveway that looks flat from the road can pitch into a steep, rocky grade before you're near the house, and the soft-sand tracks near the Lighthouse-end dunes stop standard delivery trucks. Our all-terrain forklifts get past that and set pallets where your crew is actually working.
On the East End we run install-only — you (or your landscaper) handle the prep, and our crew shows up with the sod and lays it tight. The Hamptons surcharge applies on orders over 1,200 sq ft; full-service prep + install is available across CT and Westchester.
Every install is scoped per project — square footage, access up the moraine grades, variety call for the salt-wind exposure, install window against in-season eastbound Route 27 traffic. You get a written quote with the work and inclusions spelled out before crews are scheduled.
Most Montauk installs are part of a larger landscape build managed by a local crew. We work as the sod supplier and install specialist — same fresh-cut product, same install standard you'd get on a Greenwich or Westchester job.

These videos came in four years after we installed tall fescue across a multi-acre property in Water Mill — west of Montauk on the South Fork — sent unprompted by the customer. Walkthrough of a $13.95 million waterfront estate built by Build Well Development on Tara Rd here in Montauk that we sodded. The pool area and yard you see is sod we redid for free before the showing — sprinklers failed to kick on after install and burned out the first lay, so we hauled it away and re-laid it on our dime. Same install standard, same accountability when things go wrong.
