How Long Island & Hamptons sod pricing works
Long Island and the Hamptons aren’t part of our standard delivery footprint pricing for two reasons — the trip is materially longer and more expensive than a mainland delivery, and the East End market sits on top of a tighter set of logistics constraints (ferry timing, bridge tolls, narrow seasonal traffic, gated communities). To keep our standard footprint pricing honest, East End orders carry a uniform per-square-foot surcharge and a slightly higher order minimum.

Applied uniformly across every variety (KB, KB Mix, Tall Fescue, the Blend, and RTF). The surcharge sits on top of the standard per-sq-ft tier rate — so a Hamptons order at the 1,200 sq ft tier pays $0.75/sq ft (standard tier rate) plus $0.30/sq ft (East End surcharge) for KB.
1,200 sq ft minimum
2 pallets — the smallest order that makes the East End trip economically viable for both sides. RTF (Rhizomatous Tall Fescue) carries an additional 10,000 sq ft minimum on Long Island because it’s a specialty variety cut to order.

Why is sod more expensive on Long Island and in the Hamptons?

The +$0.30/sq ft surcharge covers the additional drive time, ferry/bridge tolls, and East End delivery routing that don't apply to our standard Connecticut, Westchester, and mainland New York footprint. A sod truck leaving the farm for Southampton or East Hampton spends roughly twice as long on the road as the same truck delivering to Greenwich or Westchester — the surcharge keeps East End pricing honest without making the rest of our footprint subsidize it.
Why is there a 1,200 sq ft minimum on Long Island and the Hamptons?

Smaller orders aren't economically deliverable to the East End. The drive, the ferry/bridge crossings, and the on-property forklift work cost the same whether the truck is carrying two pallets or eight. 1,200 sq ft (2 pallets) is the smallest order that makes the math work for both sides — and it's the floor for a meaningful lawn install anyway.

Does the surcharge apply to every variety?

Yes — the +$0.30/sq ft Long Island surcharge applies uniformly across Kentucky Bluegrass, KB Mix, Tall Fescue (Black Beauty), and RTF. The variety choice doesn't change the surcharge, only the base per-sq-ft rate it sits on top of. Tall Fescue runs +$0.10/sq ft over Kentucky Bluegrass and RTF runs roughly +$0.40/sq ft over Kentucky Bluegrass before the East End surcharge is added — the calculator above applies the correct stacked rate for each variety automatically.
How does the Hamptons sod price compare to local Long Island suppliers?

Most East End landscape suppliers don't grow their own sod — they buy from regional farms and add a yard markup before delivering. We're the farm. Our delivered Hamptons price (calculator above) is usually competitive with or below what an East End yard charges, even with the +$0.30/sq ft surcharge, because we cut a layer of markup out of the chain.
How fast can you deliver sod to the Hamptons?
