Hydroseeding & Lawn Installation · CT & Westchester NY
A New Lawn, From Bare Dirt To Green.
Full-service hydroseeding across Connecticut and Westchester County, NY. We handle the whole job — clearing, grading, seedbed prep, and the hydroseed application — and it’s the budget-friendly way to establish a big new lawn or reseed a slope. The cost-effective alternative to sod when you have the room to wait a few weeks for it to fill in.
(203) 806-4086What hydroseeding is
Hydroseeding sprays a thick green slurry — grass seed, wood or paper mulch, starter fertilizer, and a tackifier that binds it all together — evenly across prepared soil in a single pass. The mulch holds moisture against the seed and the tackifier keeps everything in place, even on a slope, so the whole area germinates fast and even.
Compared to hand-seeding, you get far more uniform coverage and much better erosion control. Compared to sod, you get a significantly lower price on large areas and the flexibility to dial in a custom seed blend for sun, shade, or high traffic. The one trade-off is patience: a hydroseeded lawn fills in over a few weeks rather than landing finished in a day.
Full-service, start to finish
We don’t just spray seed. We take the lot from wherever it is today to a finished, seeded lawn — no separate grading crew to hire.
- 1
Site evaluation & clearing
We walk the property, check drainage and soil, and clear debris, rocks, and any dead turf or weeds so we start from a clean base.
- 2
Rough grading
We shape the lot for proper drainage — pitching grade away from the house and foundation and smoothing out low spots that would otherwise pool water.
- 3
Finish grading & seedbed prep
We loosen and level the topsoil, amend it where it needs it, and rake the seedbed smooth and firm so the slurry makes clean contact with the soil.
- 4
Hydroseed application
We spray a slurry of grass seed, mulch, starter fertilizer, and tackifier in one even pass — a green coat that holds moisture and locks the seed in place while it germinates.
- 5
Establishment & follow-up
We leave you with a clear watering plan and mowing guidance so the new lawn fills in evenly. Consistent water through germination is the single biggest factor in a thick result.

Hydroseeding vs. sod
Both give you a great lawn. The right call comes down to budget, timeline, and the size of the area.
Hydroseeding
- The cost-effective option for large new lawns
- Excellent for slopes, erosion control, and big open areas
- Custom seed blend for your sun, shade, and traffic
- Fills in over several weeks with watering
Sod
- An instant, finished lawn the day it’s laid
- Usable and walk-on ready fast
- Premium, uniform look from day one
- Higher cost per square foot than hydroseed
Pricing — 2,000 sq ft minimum, by quote
Hydroseeding is typically the most cost-effective way to establish a large new lawn — generally well below the cost of sod for the same area. Because every site is different — access, grading, slope, and soil all matter — we price each project once we know the square footage and the condition of the lot.
Our minimum project size is 2,000 square feet. Tell us a little about your property and we’ll give you a free, no-pressure quote.

Frequently asked
What is hydroseeding?
Hydroseeding sprays a slurry of grass seed, mulch, starter fertilizer, and a tackifier (a binder that holds everything in place) onto prepared soil. The mulch keeps the seed moist and the tackifier locks it down — even on slopes — so you get fast, even germination across the whole area.
Is hydroseeding cheaper than sod?
Yes. For establishing a large new lawn, hydroseeding is typically the most cost-effective option — generally well below the cost of sod for the same square footage. The trade-off is time: sod is an instant lawn, while a hydroseeded lawn fills in over several weeks. Our minimum project size is 2,000 square feet, and we quote each job by the site. Call for pricing.
Do you handle the full job, including prep and grading?
Yes — this is full-service. We clear the site, handle rough and finish grading, prep the seedbed, and apply the hydroseed. You don't need to line up a separate excavator or grading crew; we take the lot from where it is to a finished, seeded lawn.
How long does a hydroseeded lawn take to establish?
With consistent watering you'll usually see germination in about one to two weeks, the first mow around three to four weeks in, and a thick, established lawn over roughly two to three months. Watering through the germination window is the most important thing you can do.
When is the best time to hydroseed in Connecticut and Westchester?
The two best windows in our area are spring through early summer and late summer into early fall, when soil temperatures and rainfall favor germination. We can hydroseed outside those windows too — we'll tell you honestly if your timing and watering plan will give a good result.
What areas do you serve for hydroseeding?

On the Connecticut side that runs from the Fairfield County towns — Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, New Canaan, Darien, Wilton, and Ridgefield — up through Hartford, New Haven, Litchfield, and the rest of the state.
