Amagansett is the village just east of East Hampton — the historic Main Street with its 18th- and 19th-century buildings, the Bluff Road oceanfront blocks, the Indian Wells Highway and Atlantic Avenue beach corridor, Marine Boulevard along the ocean, the Beach Hampton neighborhood south of the highway, Lazy Point on Napeague Bay, and the Napeague stretch where the South Fork narrows on the way to Montauk. Soils are mostly sandy oceanfront outwash, with the Napeague isthmus being especially thin and salt-exposed. Deer pressure is heavy in the woods-edge properties off Abrahams Path and Cross Highway.
