Maine's Midcoast is a maze of rocky bays and peninsulas — Camden, Rockland, Boothbay Harbor, Bath, and Brunswick — where the harbor towns and sailing villages sit right on the water. The coast is cool and maritime (roughly USDA zone 5b–6a) with salt air on the exposed lots and thin, rocky soil over granite, often shaded by coastal pine and spruce. That makes deep-rooted, salt-tolerant tall fescue and blends the natural lead, laid over a fresh topsoil base, with bluegrass reserved for sunny lawns set back from the shore.
