Most of Cape Cod is glacial outwash — sandy, fast-draining soil that's low in organic matter and holds little water or nutrient. New sod roots in quickly here, but it needs a few inches of quality topsoil and deep, consistent watering to establish. On lots near the bays and ocean, salt-laden wind is a real factor, which is why we lead with deep-rooted tall fescue and fescue blends over thirsty bluegrass.
