Hunterdon County is the rolling country-residential and equestrian belt of western New Jersey — the farm towns and estates of Tewksbury, Readington, Clinton, and Flemington, and the Delaware River towns of Lambertville and Frenchtown. It's open, gently rolling farm country (roughly USDA zone 6a–6b) on generally good agricultural loam, with wooded ridges and steeper, rockier ground stepping down to the river.
