Atlantic County runs from the Jersey Shore barrier islands — Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate, Longport, and Brigantine — back across the bay to the sandy Pinelands mainland of Galloway, Egg Harbor Township, and the blueberry country around Hammonton. It's warm (around USDA zone 7b) with sandy, fast-draining soil throughout, and the shore towns get real ocean salt spray and salty wind. No cool-season grass truly loves salt, but tall fescue handles it best of the four and also takes the Pinelands heat and drought, so it leads countywide; our balanced blend suits the more sheltered, irrigated inland lots.
