Why is sod more expensive on Long Island?

The +$0.30/sq ft surcharge covers the additional drive time, bridge tolls, and Long Island delivery routing that don't apply to our mainland Connecticut, Westchester, and New York footprint. A sod truck headed to Nassau or Suffolk spends materially longer on the road than the same truck delivering to Greenwich. The surcharge keeps Long Island pricing honest without making the rest of our footprint subsidize it.

Why is there a 1,200 sq ft minimum?

Smaller orders aren't economically deliverable to Long Island. The drive, the crossings, and the on-property forklift work cost the same whether the truck is carrying two pallets or eight. 1,200 sq ft (2 pallets) is the smallest order that makes the trip work for both sides — and it's the floor for a meaningful lawn install anyway.

Which Long Island towns do you deliver to?

All of Nassau and Suffolk Counties — the North Shore Gold Coast (Manhasset, Sands Point, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington), Central and South Shore Nassau (Garden City, Rockville Centre, Hewlett, Roslyn, Old Westbury), the Smithtown/Brookhaven corridor, and the North Fork (Riverhead, Mattituck, Cutchogue, Southold, Greenport). What variety is best for Long Island properties?

For most North Shore and Gold Coast estate properties with established irrigation, Kentucky Bluegrass or a Bluegrass-Fescue blend gives the classic refined look. For sandier South Shore and Brookhaven sites with less irrigation, Tall Fescue or RTF outperform pure bluegrass — deeper roots, better drought tolerance, and stronger performance in fast-draining soils.

Does the surcharge apply to every variety?

Yes — the +$0.30/sq ft Long Island surcharge applies uniformly across Kentucky Bluegrass, the KB-Fescue Blend, Tall Fescue (Black Beauty), and RTF. Tall Fescue still runs +$0.10/sq ft over Kentucky Bluegrass, and RTF still runs roughly +$0.40/sq ft over KB — the surcharge sits on top of whichever base rate you select.

How fast can you deliver to Long Island?

Standard turnaround is 2–7 days from order to delivery on average. Both. We deliver to homeowners and contractors managing their own installation, and we run installation crews across Long Island for projects where the homeowner or builder wants the whole job handled. The number on the estimate is the delivered price — installation, soil prep, and old-lawn removal are quoted separately because they're labor-and-site dependent.

How does your delivered price compare to local Long Island suppliers?

Most Long Island landscape yards don't grow their own sod — they buy from regional farms and add a yard markup before delivering. We're the farm. Our delivered Long Island price is usually competitive with or below what a local yard charges, even with the +$0.30/sq ft surcharge, because we cut a layer of markup out of the chain.

How soon do I water after install?

Can you install in November or December on Long Island?

Yes, until the ground freezes. Long Island installations typically run later in the season than inland sites because of the moderating coastal temperatures — we routinely install through December on Long Island, weather permitting.
