CT Sod delivers fresh-cut sod across all of Long Island — Nassau and Suffolk Counties. We cut to order and time delivery to the bridge and seasonal traffic schedule, so the sod arrives green and ready to lay — not dried out from sitting on a yard.

01Farm-direct, not a yard reseller

Why CT Sod for Long Island

We Are The Farm

Most Long Island yards buy from regional farms and add a markup. We grow it and deliver direct — usually beating yard prices even with the Long Island surcharge.

Sod-Specialist Logistics

Long Island deliveries get the same fresh-cut handling as our Connecticut runs — coordinated cut date, refrigerated transport on hot days, and timing that respects bridge and seasonal traffic.

All-Terrain Forklift

Our trucks carry piggyback forklifts that place pallets on sloped lawns, sandy soft ground, and tight gated-community driveways across Nassau and Suffolk.

Full Project Scope

Pallet-only delivery for contractors and DIY, or full-service installation with site prep, grading, and old-lawn removal — single quote, single crew, one accountable team.

Estate-Scale Capability

Multi-day installs into Gold Coast and North Fork estate properties. The operational capacity small local operators don't have.

Variety Guidance

Sandy soils, salt influence near the Sound, and intense summer sun change what performs on Long Island. Our quote process matches the variety to the site.

Sod Varieties for Long Island

Kentucky Bluegrass

Estate Classic

For North Shore Gold Coast properties with established irrigation prioritizing the traditional refined estate appearance — Manhasset, Sands Point, Old Westbury, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay.

Kentucky Bluegrass guide

Black Beauty Tall Fescue

Tall Fescue guide

Bluegrass-Fescue Blend

Most Versatile

The bluegrass look with fescue durability underneath. Excellent for Nassau residential and Suffolk family properties wanting both aesthetics and resilience.

RTF (Rhizomatous Tall Fescue)

Best for Dogs & Kids

Self-repairing rhizome system fills in damage from foot traffic and dog use over time. Carries a 10,000 sq ft Long Island minimum because it's cut to order.

04Why most Long Island projects skip DIY

Full-Service Installation

Most Long Island sod projects benefit from full-service installation rather than pallet-only delivery. Sandy coastal soils, the timing demands of fresh-cut sod, and the scale of typical Nassau and Suffolk projects all favor a crew that does this every day.

1

Site Assessment & Prep

Grading, topsoil delivery, soil amendment for sandy Long Island sites, removal of existing turf when needed. The full prep scope handled by our crew.

2

Coordinated Delivery & Install

Fresh-cut sod and our installation crew arrive together — no waiting, no wilting, no compromised material sitting in the Long Island sun.

3

Precision Installation

Brickwork-staggered seams, tight joints, smooth grading. Rolled for soil contact before we leave the site.

4

Watering Protocol Handoff

Detailed day-by-day instructions for the first 14 days — especially important on sandy Long Island soils that drain fast — first-mow timing, and what to expect over the next 12 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is sod more expensive on Long Island?
The +$0.30/sq ft surcharge covers the additional drive time, bridge tolls, and Long Island delivery routing that don't apply to our mainland Connecticut, Westchester, and New York footprint. A sod truck headed to Nassau or Suffolk spends materially longer on the road than the same truck delivering to Greenwich. The surcharge keeps Long Island pricing honest without making the rest of our footprint subsidize it.
Why is there a 1,200 sq ft minimum?
Smaller orders aren't economically deliverable to Long Island. The drive, the crossings, and the on-property forklift work cost the same whether the truck is carrying two pallets or eight. 1,200 sq ft (roughly three standard pallets) is the smallest order that makes the trip work for both sides — and it's the floor for a meaningful lawn install anyway.
Which Long Island towns do you deliver to?
All of Nassau and Suffolk Counties — the North Shore Gold Coast (Manhasset, Sands Point, Locust Valley, Oyster Bay, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington), Central and South Shore Nassau (Garden City, Rockville Centre, Hewlett, Roslyn, Old Westbury), the Smithtown/Brookhaven corridor, and the North Fork (Riverhead, Mattituck, Cutchogue, Southold, Greenport). For gated communities or restricted-access driveways, call ahead so we can confirm the plan before you commit.
What variety is best for Long Island properties?
For most North Shore and Gold Coast estate properties with established irrigation, Kentucky Bluegrass or a Bluegrass-Fescue blend gives the classic refined look. For sandier South Shore and Brookhaven sites with less irrigation, Tall Fescue or RTF outperform pure bluegrass — deeper roots, better drought tolerance, and stronger performance in fast-draining soils.
Does the surcharge apply to every variety?
Yes — the +$0.30/sq ft Long Island surcharge applies uniformly across Kentucky Bluegrass, the KB-Fescue Blend, Tall Fescue (Black Beauty), and RTF. Tall Fescue still runs +$0.10/sq ft over Kentucky Bluegrass, and RTF still runs roughly +$0.40/sq ft over KB — the surcharge sits on top of whichever base rate you select.
How fast can you deliver to Long Island?
Standard turnaround is 3–7 days from order to delivery, slightly longer than mainland orders because of bridge logistics and seasonal traffic. Peak summer lead times can extend if you're ordering during a heavy install week — call (203) 806-4086 to confirm the window before you commit to a closing date or contractor schedule.
Do you install on Long Island, or just deliver?
Both. We deliver to homeowners and contractors managing their own installation, and we run installation crews across Long Island for projects where the homeowner or builder wants the whole job handled. Installation is quoted per project because labor depends on site access, grade, prep required, and old-lawn removal. Call (203) 806-4086 with project details — we typically quote installation on the same call.
What's included in the Long Island delivered price?
Fresh-cut sod from the farm, the +$0.30/sq ft Long Island surcharge applied to the material rate, palletization, transport (including bridge tolls), $99 delivery fee, per-pallet handling charge, and applicable sales tax. The number on the estimate is what we'd invoice — installation, soil prep, and old-lawn removal are quoted separately because they're labor-and-site dependent.
How does your delivered price compare to local Long Island suppliers?
Most Long Island landscape yards don't grow their own sod — they buy from regional farms and add a yard markup before delivering. We're the farm. Our delivered Long Island price is usually competitive with or below what a local yard charges, even with the +$0.30/sq ft surcharge, because we cut a layer of markup out of the chain.
How soon do I water after install?
Within minutes of installation completion, not later that day. The first watering needs to soak the sod and underlying soil deeply — especially in sandy Long Island soils that drain quickly. For the day-by-day protocol, see our first 14 days aftercare guide.
Can you install in November or December on Long Island?
Yes, until the ground freezes. Long Island installations typically run later in the season than inland sites because of the moderating coastal temperatures — we routinely install through December on Long Island, weather permitting.
How do I get an exact Long Island price?
Call (203) 806-4086 with your square footage and the delivery town, and we'll quote you on the same call. The +$0.30/sq ft surcharge and 1,200 sq ft minimum are built into every Long Island quote, so the number we give you is what we'd invoice.
