Three consecutive years. Three tee boxes. CT Sod returned to Ridgefield Golf Course in Ridgefield, Connecticut, for another bentgrass sod installation. This project continues our work with the course on its teeing surfaces, and the photographs and videos below document the completed bentgrass portion.
This is a golf-course bentgrass installation, not a residential lawn planted with a different name on the grass. The tee box has its own use, mowing requirements and maintenance program. The bluegrass installation planned around this surface will be covered in a separate project story; the exposed soil visible around the bentgrass is not being presented as a completed bluegrass surround.
Our Third Tee Box in Three Years at Ridgefield Golf Course
Repeat work gives this project its context. Ridgefield Golf Course has brought CT Sod back for a tee box in each of three consecutive years. This latest installation adds another documented local project to our sod installation work in Ridgefield, CT.
The completed surface sits within the course landscape, with a curved perimeter, a path alongside it and autumn trees beyond. The close views show the individual sod pieces and their seams. Newly installed sod is still a living surface that needs to establish; completion of the installation is not a declaration that the tee is ready for unrestricted play.
Our role in this story is the bentgrass sod installation. Decisions about opening the tee, mowing and ongoing turf management belong with the course's maintenance team.
Watch the Completed Bentgrass Tee Box
The first video follows the edge of the newly installed tee and shows the sod surface with crew members nearby. It gives a closer view than the wide project photograph: the shaped perimeter, the seams between pieces and the boundary between bentgrass and the soil outside it.
The second video looks across the completed bentgrass toward the course. It shows the tee in its setting rather than treating the turf as an isolated product sample.
Why Bentgrass Is a Golf-Course Turf Decision
Bentgrass is associated with closely maintained golf turf because it can produce a fine-textured surface under an appropriate mowing and management program. Selecting it for a tee box is a different decision from choosing grass for a backyard. The intended playing surface, existing course turf and the maintenance team's practices all matter.
That distinction is important for homeowners researching this project. A golf-course installation is not automatically a recommendation to use bentgrass for a home lawn. Residential grass selection should reflect sunlight, use, mowing preferences and the level of maintenance the owner intends to provide. Our Ridgefield sod delivery page is a separate starting point for people comparing lawn-sod options.
For golf-course work, the turf specification should be confirmed with the course team before ordering. A tee, a putting green and a surrounding lawn are not interchangeable surfaces, and a project should not be specified from a photograph alone.
What Matters in Golf-Course Sod Installation
A golf-course sod project needs coordination between the finished surface being requested, the ground that is ready to receive it and the crew placing the sod. These are planning considerations for course projects, not claims that CT Sod performed every stage of preparation on this tee.
A ready receiving surface. The course and installer should agree on preparation responsibilities, the intended contours and the condition of the soil before the sod arrives. Sod follows the surface beneath it; laying it does not replace the work of establishing the correct grade.
A clear turf boundary. The Ridgefield photographs show a defined bentgrass perimeter. That line separates the tee surface from the surrounding area and helps make the scope of this installation clear. Keeping different turf areas distinct also helps the maintenance team manage them for their intended uses.
Careful fitting. Sod pieces need to meet without overlaps or open gaps. A curved tee edge requires attention to the perimeter as well as the larger central area. The finished videos show the newly laid pieces before the seams have grown together.
Establishment before regular use. Water management and protection from unnecessary traffic remain important after installation. The course team should assess rooting and surface condition before returning the area to play. We are not attaching a fixed opening date to this project.
Bentgrass Now; Bluegrass Around It Separately
The bentgrass tee-box installation is the completed work featured here. Bluegrass around the tee will have its own follow-up post, with its own project media and description.
Keeping the two stories separate matters: the bentgrass playing surface and its bluegrass surround have different roles. The bare perimeter visible in these photographs is simply the boundary of the work documented in this post, not evidence that the bentgrass installation itself is unfinished.
