CT Sod has completed 5,000 square feet of Kentucky bluegrass sod installation at Ridgefield Golf Course in Ridgefield, Connecticut, finishing the area around the 4,000-square-foot bentgrass tee box we also installed. Together, the two turf areas total 9,000 square feet of sod installation on this project.
This is the completed-surround follow-up to our bentgrass tee-box installation at Ridgefield Golf Course. The bentgrass forms the tee surface; the Kentucky bluegrass completes the surrounding banks and lawn areas beside the cart path. Our photos show the new sod in place with irrigation running across the area.
Two Turf Areas, One Completed Ridgefield Project
This was our third tee box in three consecutive years at Ridgefield Golf Course. The latest project combines two distinct installations, each documented in its own story:
- 4,000 sq ft of bentgrass: the tee box itself, covered in the earlier project post.
- 5,000 sq ft of Kentucky bluegrass: the surrounding grass areas featured here.
- 9,000 sq ft in total: the combined installation, not 9,000 sq ft of either individual grass type.

Kentucky Bluegrass Around the Bentgrass Tee
The completed surround follows the contours of the tee bank and the curved cart path rather than forming a simple rectangular lawn. The photographs show sod fitted along the paved edge, extending over the banks and meeting the existing landscape at the perimeter.
Bentgrass and Kentucky bluegrass have different roles here. The bentgrass is the closely managed teeing surface. The Kentucky bluegrass is the surrounding turf. This is not a change of grass on the tee, and the bluegrass installation does not replace the bentgrass described in the original story.
Kentucky bluegrass is also used in residential and commercial landscapes, but grass selection should follow the site's light, use and maintenance needs. A golf-course specification should not be copied automatically to a home lawn. For local service options, see sod installation in Ridgefield, CT.

Finished-Project Videos
These two videos document the completed Kentucky bluegrass surround and its relationship to the bentgrass tee. The sod seams remain visible: the installation is complete, while rooting and establishment continue afterward.
Following the Banks and Cart-Path Curves
The photos give several views of the same project. From the approach, the path curves beside the new grass. From the side, the bluegrass-covered bank rises toward the tee. Across the front, irrigation is visible against the autumn trees.
That combination of edges and slopes is why an installation quote needs more than a square-foot figure. The shape of the turf area, access and preparation status all affect planning. For a course project, the intended boundary between turf types should also be clear before installation.

Installation Complete; Establishment Still Matters
The finished photos show irrigation operating, an important part of getting newly installed turf established. Fresh sod provides immediate grass coverage, but it still needs soil contact, appropriate moisture and time to root. Visible seams on installation-day turf are not the same as a fully established surface.
The golf-course maintenance team manages watering, mowing and return to use. Conditions should guide those decisions rather than a fixed calendar promise. The completed installation does not, by itself, establish an opening date for play.

See the Bentgrass Installation That Came First
The 4,000 sq ft bentgrass tee-box story includes the earlier photos and videos before the surrounding bluegrass was installed. Read the two posts together to see the progression from the finished tee surface to the completed 9,000 sq ft project.
Our third consecutive year working on a tee box at Ridgefield is a documented part of this project's history—not a claim that every future course job will have the same turf choice or scope.
