Derby is the smallest city in Connecticut by area, tucked at the confluence of the Naugatuck and Housatonic Rivers, and its lawns pack a lot of variety into a small footprint. Pallets are cut to order at the farm the morning of installation, carried up the Sentinel Hill grades and into tight downtown blocks by all-terrain forklift, and laid by a crew that installs sod nearly every day across the region — backed by 30 years of sod industry experience. On the open, sunny upland lots we lead with tall fescue for deep roots on thin, dry soil; the shaded Hawthorne Avenue and Pine Rock Park blocks get a bluegrass-fescue blend.

Your sod is cut at the farm the morning of installation — never stockpiled. Fresh sod establishes faster and handles transplant stress far better than a tired pallet, which matters on Derby's rockier Sentinel Hill and Pine Rock upland grades where the topsoil layer runs thin and dries fast.
The Sentinel Hill streets climb to steep residential grades and the downtown blocks have scarce on-street parking. Our forklifts carry pallets up the grade and set them where the crew is staged, or move a downtown load off the truck in minutes — no stranding sod at the curb below.
