The aerial above is the before view: Central Middle School in Greenwich, Connecticut on Friday morning, August 21, 2026, with the designated lawn zones still open soil. By late afternoon, CT Sod's 11,000-square-foot sod scope was installed and watered ahead of Monday's ribbon cutting.

Turner Construction, general contractor for the new Greenwich Central Middle School project, contacted CT Sod on Tuesday with a deadline-critical request: 11,000 square feet of sod needed to be installed before the school's Monday ribbon cutting. Turner Construction called CT Sod directly for the rush commercial sod installation. CT Sod rearranged its installation schedule, mobilized to the active construction site on Friday, and completed the entire assigned scope that same day — first call to finished lawn in three days.

This is the full project record in the order it happened: the Tuesday call, the active construction site, Friday-morning conditions, installation progress, and the finished-school reveal.

Project Timeline

  • Tuesday, August 18, 2026 — Turner Construction, the project's general contractor, contacted CT Sod about the rush installation and brought us in.
  • Friday, August 21, 2026 — CT Sod mobilized to the Greenwich construction site and completed the full 11,000 square feet of sod installation.
  • Monday, August 24, 2026 — Greenwich Central Middle School ribbon-cutting deadline, with the sod already down and watered in.
First contact to completed installation: three days.

Tuesday: The Call and a Deadline That Would Not Move

Turner Construction, the general contractor for the Central Middle School project, contacted CT Sod on Tuesday, August 18 and brought us in. A high-visibility section of the new Greenwich school grounds still needed turf before Monday's ceremony with town officials, the superintendent, and students. The response window was measured in days, not weeks.

CT Sod scheduled fresh material, coordinated truck and crew timing around an active construction site, and mobilized for Friday. For a commercial job at this scale, speed only works when the harvest date, delivery sequence, pallet staging, installer count, site access, and watering handoff are planned as one operation.

Tuesday Call. Friday Finish.

A fixed public deadline changes the job. The material has to be cut fresh, the crew has to be sized for the footage, and the site has to be ready when the truck arrives. There is no extra day to recover from a missed handoff.

Before Our Crew Mobilized: An Active Construction Site

These photographs document the campus before CT Sod's Friday installation. They show the evolving grade, new walks, building frontage, and future lawn areas inside a much larger construction project. They are site context—not a claim that CT Sod performed every preparation task visible in the photographs.

These conditions explain why commercial turf schedules need a firm handoff. Sod is perishable after harvest. The farm cut, trucks, forklifts, and install crew must arrive when the designated areas are truly ready—not while the final grade is still changing.

Friday Morning: Prepared Soil, No Sod Yet

The hero aerial at the top of this page was taken Friday morning. The next views continue that before-installation record, showing the entrance circle, curved walks, school frontage, and open lawn zones before CT Sod began laying 11,000 square feet.

At this point, the deadline had not changed. The site still needed to move from open soil to a finished entrance lawn before the public event on Monday.

Friday Afternoon: The 11,000-Square-Foot Transformation

Fresh sod arrived against the install date and was staged around the active school site — flatbeds of farm-cut pallets unloaded beside the new building while the crew worked. The progress views below show the entrance circle turning green first, then the lawn extending along the building frontage, walks, and designated campus zones.

Friday Completion: The Finished School Lawn

By late afternoon on Friday, August 21, 2026, CT Sod's assigned turf areas were complete. The final aerials show finished sod at the school entrance, around the main circle, beside the building, along the curved walks, and across the deadline-critical lawn zones.

The Sod Scope and the Separate Hydroseed Scope

Project Scope Clarification

CT Sod supplied and installed the 11,000 square feet of finished sod shown here. The remaining open-soil areas visible elsewhere on the construction campus belong to the project landscaper's separate hydroseed plan. CT Sod did not perform that hydroseeding.

The campus-wide view matters because it shows both scopes in the same frame without confusing them. Sod was used where the project needed an immediate finished lawn for the opening. Hydroseed was reserved by the project's landscaper for other areas outside CT Sod's assignment.

What This Deadline Project Demonstrates

The Greenwich sod guide's school timeline connects this deadline project to townwide soil, access, sequencing, and rules.

Sod gave the school an immediate finished lawn on Friday. Hydroseed can be right where other parts of a site have time to establish, but it does not create the same day-one surface for a Monday ribbon cutting.

For Central Middle School, the advantage was practical:

  • Immediate appearance: the assigned lawn areas looked complete as soon as installation and watering were done.
  • Defined scope: the deadline-critical entrance lawns could be assigned to sod while other areas remained in a separate landscaper plan.
  • Fresh material: the sod was harvested against the installation date rather than held as yard inventory.
  • Schedule certainty: the visible result did not depend on germination after the event date.
This is the kind of coordination we bring to commercial sod installation, new lawn installation across Connecticut and Westchester, and local Greenwich sod installation. You can also browse the finished project in Our Work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Central Middle School sod installation complete?+
CT Sod completed its 11,000-square-foot sod scope on Friday. The open-soil areas visible elsewhere in the drone media are not unfinished CT Sod work; they are part of the project landscaper's separate hydroseed plan.
Did CT Sod hydroseed the remaining areas at Central Middle School?+
No. CT Sod supplied and installed the sod. The project's landscaper will hydroseed the other designated areas, so the hydroseeding should not be attributed to CT Sod.
Which sod company did Turner Construction bring in?+
Turner Construction, the general contractor for the Greenwich Central Middle School project, called CT Sod directly to complete 11,000 square feet of sod installation ahead of the school's Monday ribbon-cutting deadline. CT Sod was contacted Tuesday and completed the installation Friday.
Can CT Sod handle rush commercial sod installations?+
Yes, when sod availability, crew capacity, site access, grade readiness, and delivery logistics line up. This Greenwich school project moved from Tuesday's call to a completed 11,000-square-foot sod scope on Friday.
Does CT Sod install sod for schools and active construction sites?+
CT Sod handles school, commercial, municipal, and large-property sod installations that require coordination around general contractors, landscapers, equipment, hardscape, and other active trades. The exact plan depends on site access, square footage, grade readiness, watering, and deadline.

If you are looking for sod in the New England area this is the place to go. My son and his family recently moved to Claremont NH and needed sod. Due to his busy schedule and being new to the area and not being able to find a local installer I planned a trip from NC to install it for him. The ordering process was easy and I believe Kayla was helpful on the phone explaining different grass options and what would work best for the area. She scheduled the sod delivery about a month out for me which allowed me to time plan my short weekend trip. On delivery day things did not go as planned due to situations beyond CT Sod’s control. I was updated by Sean throughout the day regarding the issues and his plans to make it happen. Unfortunately it did not. Sean promised to make it right and realized I had a made a special trip up for the install. I did not get to install sod that weekend but Sean and CT Sod went above and beyond to make the issue right. Sod was delivered and installed a few days after I arrived home and the quality and customer service was above and beyond. The sod looked so good people who were driving by have been inquiring to my son about where it was from and commenting how great it looks. Shout out to CT Sod for making a bad situation into a great one. As a general contractor in NC I wish we had vendors like these folks who do the right thing without being asked!!!

We had a great experience with CT Sod. After our pool installation, our yard needed significant cleanup and restoration. Their team did an excellent job prepping the area with quality topsoil and installing the new sod. They were professional, friendly, and especially careful working around our brand-new pool and patio. Communication was easy throughout the process via text, and they took the time to recommend the right type of sod specifically for the conditions in our yard. The finished lawn exceeded our expectations and looks fantastic. They also provided great value—we were able to use the extra topsoil and sod to improve other areas of our property. Overall, very happy with the quality of the work and the entire experience with CT Sod.

I recently dealt with Sean and Kayla to set up a sod installation around a new pool - couldn’t be happier with the process, price, and results. Highly recommend CT Sod - you won’t be disappointed with this company. I snapped this while the guys were working. In 4 hours they almost had the whole 5,000 square feet of fresh Kentucky Bluegrass installed. Results speak for themselves.
