The soil is sandy and glacial, the moors are open, and there's little natural shelter, so salt tolerance drives every choice: we lead with deep-rooted tall fescue and salt-tolerant blends laid over a generous fresh topsoil base, and steer away from straight bluegrass except in sheltered, irrigated spots.
Getting sod to the island takes planning — deliveries are coordinated with the ferry, so scheduling ahead matters more here than anywhere.
