Block Island (the town of New Shoreham) sits twelve miles out in the Atlantic — treeless, windswept, and salted on every side, the most exposed ground we serve. Salt tolerance comes first:
Deep roots (2–3 ft), drought tolerance, refined look. Strong choice for partial-shade or lower-maintenance sites.

Everything moves on the ferry, so the job is built as one clean mobilization: sod, topsoil, equipment, and crew scheduled together, morning-cut rolls crossing on the boat and going down the same day they land.
On the island's sandy glacial soil the crew lays a generous topsoil base — the moors don't hold water, so the base has to — grades against the wind-driven rain, and installs deep-rooted tall fescue and salt-tolerant blends, keeping straight bluegrass to the rare sheltered, irrigated pocket. Establishment watering runs deep and disciplined; out here the schedule is the lawn's whole support system.
