What is the minimum sod order?

500 sq ft (one pallet) is the minimum for Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and most of New York and the New England states. Long Island has a 1,200 sq ft (2 pallets) minimum because of the ferry/bridge logistics. Below 500 sq ft is not economically deliverable — for patch jobs under that size, most homeowners are better served by a local landscape supply yard.

How much does sod cost per pallet?

One pallet of farm-cut sod is $749 delivered in Connecticut for Kentucky Bluegrass (600 sq ft of coverage, all-in delivered/tax-included). Volume drops the per-pallet price significantly — a 10-pallet order works out to roughly $453 per pallet for Kentucky Bluegrass.

Do these prices include delivery and sales tax?

Yes. Every price on this page is the final delivered, tax-included number for Connecticut. That includes pallet handling, $99 delivery, the $50 fuel surcharge on 500–900 sq ft orders, and 6.35% CT sales tax. Tax varies by delivery state for orders outside Connecticut. Installation, soil prep, grading, rush scheduling, and special-equipment delivery are quoted separately because they are crew- and site-dependent.

How CT Sod Prices Are Built

Per-square-foot tier rate. Kentucky Bluegrass tier rates are $0.90/sq ft (1–2 pallets), $0.75/sq ft (2–4 pallets), $0.70/sq ft (4–8 pallets), and $0.66/sq ft (8+ pallets). Tall Fescue adds roughly +$0.10/sq ft over KB across every tier. RTF (Rhizomatous Tall Fescue) adds roughly +$0.40/sq ft over KB.

Single-pallet flat rate. Below 600 sq ft the order uses an all-in flat rate — $699 for ≤500 sq ft, $749 for 501–600 sq ft (KB). That flat rate already includes pallet handling, $99 delivery, the $50 fuel surcharge, and 6.35% CT sales tax. The sticker is what the invoice says.

Delivery. Flat $99 across our standard 8-state footprint (CT, MA, RI, NH, VT, ME, NY, NJ). Long Island deliveries add a $0.30/sq ft surcharge across every variety and require a 1,200 sq ft minimum because of ferry/bridge logistics.

Pallet handling. $20 per pallet covers the farm's palletization, the forklift on the truck, and the all-terrain off-loading at your property.

Fuel surcharge. $50 on 500–900 sq ft orders only. Small orders are the least efficient for a delivery truck — at 1,200 sq ft and up the truck is running near capacity and the surcharge drops off.

Sales tax. 6.35% on Connecticut deliveries. Other states are billed at their applicable rate. Quoted totals on this page use the CT rate.
