Connecticut's shoreline enjoys a milder, longer season than the interior — roughly USDA zone 7a — thanks to Long Island Sound. Near the water the soil turns sandier and carries a light salt influence; the Sound is far gentler than open-ocean exposure, but it's still enough that we lead with salt-tolerant tall fescue and fescue blends on waterfront and beach-adjacent lots.
