A Nantucket install is a logistics operation with a lawn at the end of it. Sod, soil, and crew all reach the island by ferry and freight barge, so the job is planned as one clean mobilization — booked well ahead, especially for the summer stretch when the boats fill. Once on-island, prep confronts the moorland honestly: sandy, often acidic soil low in organic matter gets a built-up topsoil base, graded and ready, with morning-cut rolls laid the day they land.
Salt wind is the island's ruling condition, so deep-rooted, salt-tolerant tall fescue and fescue blends do the work, with establishment watering run deep and consistent in the fast-draining sand.
