Final grade raked out across a Warren, RI backyard prepped for 2,600 sq ft of sod, with the shingled house, back porch, and greenhouse behind
Project update — August 25, 2026. Site preparation is complete across the full 2,600 square feet, front yard and back. Irrigation goes in Saturday, and the sod installs early next week — install and finished-lawn media will be added to this page as the job progresses. The log below runs oldest to newest.

The customer on this Warren, Rhode Island project is not a homeowner — he is a Connecticut landscaper, one of the trade crews CT Sod supplies with fresh-cut sod. When a 2,600 square foot prep-and-install landed on his book in Warren, nearly three hours from his own crew's territory, he priced the job with us instead of putting his guys on the road. The numbers worked, and he hired CT Sod to run it end to end — site preparation and installation both.

We deliver sod across Rhode Island every season, and the East Bay is a regular stop on our routes. What the Rhode Island pages have not had until now is a job documented on the site as it happens, on Rhode Island ground. This Warren project is that job — this page will follow it from graded soil to finished lawn.

The Job: 2,600 Square Feet on a Warren Village Lot

The scope is CT Sod's full package — site preparation and the sod installation itself — across roughly 2,600 square feet of front and back yard on a compact East Bay village lot. The property has plenty to work around: a shingled house with a covered porch, established planting beds, stone stepper paths, a back deck, and a greenhouse. The prep takes the old surface out and grades the lawn areas smooth, with the edges cut clean against the beds and stonework so the finished sod can run a tight line around all of it.

Warren sits low and flat between the Warren and Kickemuit rivers, on glacial-till loam with sandy pockets toward the shoreline — ground where the grade has to carry water off rather than let it sit. That is exactly what the finish grading here is set up to do. The local notes live on our Warren sod delivery and Warren sod installation pages, and our guide to the best sod for Rhode Island lawns covers what performs in the East Bay.

Why a Connecticut Landscaper Hired Us in Rhode Island

Landscape crews buy sod from us all season, and they know the product — cut to order at the farm, on the truck the same day, never stockpiled. What made this one different is the distance. Sending his own crew meant nearly three hours each way, day after day, for a job that is not around the corner from his next one. Hiring the sod specialists already running this corridor beat that math: he liked our price, he keeps the client relationship, and the client gets a crew whose only job is sod.

We wrote about that trade-off in why hiring a dedicated sod installer pays — this Warren project is what it looks like in practice.

Site Prep: Complete, Front and Back

The strip-out and grading are done across the full 2,600 square feet.

What Happens Next

Irrigation goes in on Saturday, ahead of the sod. Early next week the installation runs the way every CT Sod job runs: the sod is cut at the farm the same morning it goes down, trucked to Warren, staged where the crew is laying by all-terrain forklift, and rolled in tight the same day. Install-day photos and the finished lawn will be added to this page as the project progresses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this CT Sod's first Rhode Island job?+
No. CT Sod delivers sod across Rhode Island regularly, and the East Bay is a standing route — this Warren project is the first Rhode Island job documented on the site from site prep through the finished lawn.
Why did a Connecticut landscaper hire CT Sod instead of using his own crew?+
The job sits nearly three hours from his crew's territory. Between the drive time, the days on the road, and our price, hiring the sod specialists already working the region made better business sense — he keeps the client, and we run the sod from prep to finished lawn.
What does CT Sod's scope cover on the Warren job?+
Site preparation and the sod installation across roughly 2,600 square feet, front yard and back. The prep is complete; irrigation is going in separately before the sod is laid early next week.
Will the finished Warren lawn be posted here?+
Yes. This page is the permanent home for the project — install-day photos and the finished lawn will be added as the job progresses.

We had a great experience with CT Sod. After our pool installation, our yard needed significant cleanup and restoration. Their team did an excellent job prepping the area with quality topsoil and installing the new sod. They were professional, friendly, and especially careful working around our brand-new pool and patio. Communication was easy throughout the process via text, and they took the time to recommend the right type of sod specifically for the conditions in our yard. The finished lawn exceeded our expectations and looks fantastic. They also provided great value—we were able to use the extra topsoil and sod to improve other areas of our property. Overall, very happy with the quality of the work and the entire experience with CT Sod.

I recently dealt with Sean and Kayla to set up a sod installation around a new pool - couldn’t be happier with the process, price, and results. Highly recommend CT Sod - you won’t be disappointed with this company. I snapped this while the guys were working. In 4 hours they almost had the whole 5,000 square feet of fresh Kentucky Bluegrass installed. Results speak for themselves.
