It's cold country (roughly USDA zone 4b–5a) with a short growing season, and the valley floor is known for heavy lacustrine clay. Those two facts drive everything: we lead with deep-rooted tall fescue and durable blends, and we loosen, amend, and grade the clay for drainage so new sod roots before the cold returns.
