Same-Day Cut, Next-Day Delivery

Claremont is Sullivan County's only city — the Opera House Square blocks downtown, the mill housing along the Sugar River, the Washington Street commercial corridor, and the West Claremont terrace land out along the Connecticut River. The soils run sandy loam on the river terraces and heavier glacial till on the hill sections, and the cold inland winters put every lawn through hard freeze-thaw, so the right variety matters here. None of that does a tired pallet any favors. Sod is a living crop cut from the field, and a pallet left stacked declines fast: the core heats, the blades yellow, and the roots release the soil they grew in. Laid from an aged pallet, sod that is already weakened has little chance to root before it browns.

We cut to order so it arrives with everything it has. Your Claremont load is harvested the morning of delivery or the evening before and on the truck within a day, reaching you cool and still rooted — ready to lay on a Maple Avenue block or a West Claremont terrace lot and knit in within about two weeks. It is the opposite of a box-store pallet that has dried out on a rack for days before you cart it home.

Claremont is Sullivan County's only city — the Opera House Square civic blocks downtown, the old mill housing stepped along the Sugar River as it drops through the center of town, the Washington Street commercial corridor, the Maple Avenue and North Street residential streets, and the West Claremont farm-and-terrace land out along the Connecticut River.

The soils run sandy loam on the river terraces and heavier glacial till on the hill sections, and the cold inland winters put every lawn through hard freeze-thaw cycles that narrow which sod varieties come back strong each April.

Sizing Your Claremont Sod Order

Measure the area you want to sod, then match it to the table above. One pallet covers 500–600 square feet.

Measuring Your Area

For a simple rectangular lawn, multiply length by width to get square footage. For irregular yards, break the space into rectangles, measure each, and add them together. It is smart to add about 5–10% extra for cuts, curves, and trimming around beds, walkways, and trees.

Sod is sold by the pallet, so orders round up to the next full pallet. If your project measures 900 square feet, you will order 2 pallets. Not sure how to measure or which tier you land in? Call (203) 806-4086 with your rough dimensions and we will size it with you in a couple of minutes. You can also read how much sod comes on a pallet for more detail.

Fresh Sod vs. the Dried-Out Bargain Pallet

The most common sod mistake is buying on price alone and ending up with old, dried-out turf. Sod that has sat too long arrives yellow, brittle, and slow to root — and no amount of watering fully recovers it. By the time it fails, the money is already spent.

Fresh, recently harvested sod is the whole point. We cut to order and deliver within a tight window so the turf goes down healthy. If you want the background on how this goes wrong elsewhere, read the sod delivery scam and how to stop it and how long sod can sit before laying.

Delivering Sod to Claremont — What to Expect

We deliver to every Claremont neighborhood — Opera House Square, the Sugar River mill blocks, Washington Street, Maple Avenue, North Street, West Claremont, and the residential properties out toward the surrounding town lines.

Delivery Logistics in Claremont

A Claremont delivery turns on the mill-city terrain — tight streets on the older downtown blocks, steep grades climbing out of the Sugar River valley, and long rural drives out toward West Claremont. The all-terrain machine handles most of it and sets each pallet where your crew is working rather than at the road.

The steep valley grades and the narrow shared drives on the hill sections are the thing to plan for, which we sort out before the truck rolls. If your driveway is steep, narrow, or shared, call (203) 806-4086 before ordering so we can plan the run.

What You Get Ordering Sod in Claremont

Anyone can drop a pallet in your driveway. Here is what makes our delivery worth ordering.

Cut Fresh, Delivered Fast

We coordinate the harvest with your delivery date. Your sod is cut within days of delivery, not pulled from a pile that has been baking for a week. Fresh sod roots faster and greens up stronger.

Forklift Placement

Our trucks carry all-terrain forklifts, so pallets get placed where you actually need them — not dumped at the end of the driveway. That saves you and your crew from hauling heavy sod across the property by hand.

Honest, Delivered Pricing

One pallet is a flat $699 with delivery included — no surprises at checkout. Larger orders follow a clear per-square-foot scale. You always know what you are paying before the truck rolls.

The Right Variety for Your Yard

Bluegrass, Tall Fescue, blend, or RTF — we help you match the sod to your sun, shade, traffic, and whether you have dogs. The wrong variety is the most common reason new lawns disappoint.

We Know Northeast Lawns

Our blog library covers Best sod for New Hampshire, watering, rooting, and seasonal timing. Order from people who actually understand turf in this climate.

What Claremont Yards Use Fresh Sod For

Every delivery is a little different, but these are the projects we see most often in Claremont.

Full Lawn Replacement

Tearing out a tired, weedy, or patchy lawn and starting fresh. Sod gives you an instant, established-looking lawn the day it goes down — no waiting through a season of seeding and bare dirt.

New Construction & Renovations

After a build, addition, pool install, or hardscape project, the yard needs turf. Fresh sod finishes the property quickly and cleanly once grading is done.

Bare Spots & Winter Damage

Repairing dead patches, plow damage, or worn areas. A single pallet covers most repair jobs — see fixing bare spots with sod.

Around Pools & Patios

Clean, finished turf right up to hardscape edges. Sod establishes fast in these high-visibility areas — see Kentucky Bluegrass laid around a CT pool.

Landscaper & Contractor Supply

Claremont landscape crews order from us because the product is consistent and the delivery window is predictable — no dried-out sod showing up on an Opera House Square renovation or a West Claremont install where the homeowner is watching.

Shaded & Difficult Yards

Mixed-light yards where seed struggles. The right sod variety establishes where seeding fails — see our guide to the best sod for shaded yards.

After Your Sod Is Delivered

Sod is a living product. A little planning around delivery day makes all the difference in how well your new lawn establishes.

Lay It the Same Day

Sod should go down the day it arrives. Have your prepped soil ready and a plan to install before delivery — see why sod needs to be laid immediately.

Water Within the First Hour

New sod needs water fast and often in the early days. Follow the first 14-day watering guide closely.

Prep the Soil First

Sod roots into what is underneath it. Loose, graded topsoil makes a real difference — see the best topsoil for sod.

Know the Rooting Timeline

New sod knits down over the following weeks and months. Here is how new sod roots over 12 months.

Working With Claremont Landscapers & Contractors

Claremont contractors work a river-valley market where the restored blocks around Opera House Square set one standard and the newer builds off Washington Street and the West Claremont road set another. Fresh sod is what carries a finished install across both registers.

We deliver fresh-cut pallets on a predictable schedule, with forklift placement that saves your crew the backbreaking haul across the property. For recurring orders or multi-job scheduling, call (203) 806-4086 and talk to us directly.

If you are looking for sod in the New England area this is the place to go. My son and his family recently moved to Claremont NH and needed sod. Due to his busy schedule and being new to the area and not being able to find a local installer I planned a trip from NC to install it for him. The ordering process was easy and I believe Kayla was helpful on the phone explaining different grass options and what would work best for the area. She scheduled the sod delivery about a month out for me which allowed me to time plan my short weekend trip. On delivery day things did not go as planned due to situations beyond CT Sod’s control. I was updated by Sean throughout the day regarding the issues and his plans to make it happen. Unfortunately it did not. Sean promised to make it right and realized I had a made a special trip up for the install. I did not get to install sod that weekend but Sean and CT Sod went above and beyond to make the issue right. Sod was delivered and installed a few days after I arrived home and the quality and customer service was above and beyond. The sod looked so good people who were driving by have been inquiring to my son about where it was from and commenting how great it looks. Shout out to CT Sod for making a bad situation into a great one. As a general contractor in NC I wish we had vendors like these folks who do the right thing without being asked!!!

Amazing prices! The process was extremely stress-free from ordering online to delivery. Communication was fabulous with the company and the grass is amazing. We do not have an irrigation system and maintained the grass by simply hosing twice a day for 15 minutes. I highly recommend this company.

I recently had my lawn done by CT SOD, and I couldn't be more impressed with the entire experience. From the initial prep work to the final installation, everything was completed in just one day, and the results exceeded my expectations. The lawn looks absolutely beautiful, and it's clear the team takes pride in the quality of their work. They were professional, efficient, and left everything clean when they finished. If you're looking for a company that delivers excellent results and great service, I highly recommend CT SOD. Thank you for an outstanding job!

Larger orders are priced per square foot ($.90 down to $.66 as volume rises) plus a flat $99 delivery fee and $20 per pallet. Tall Fescue adds $.10 per square foot. Call (203) 806-4086 for an exact quote.

How much sod is on a pallet?

A standard pallet holds 500 to 600 square feet of sod. Orders round up to the next full pallet — a 900-square-foot lawn means 2 pallets. See how much sod comes on a pallet.

How soon can you deliver sod to Claremont?

Scheduling is typically 2 to 7 days from when you place your order. Spring and fall are the busiest seasons, so order as early as you can to get the date you want.

Which sod variety should I order?

Kentucky Bluegrass for an irrigated, classic ornamental lawn; Tall Fescue for full sun without irrigation and high traffic; the Bluegrass-Fescue blend for typical mixed sun-and-shade yards; and RTF for homes with dogs. Read Best sod for New Hampshire, or call and describe your yard.

Where will the pallets be placed?

Our trucks carry all-terrain forklifts, so we place pallets where you need them on the property rather than leaving everything at the curb. Tell us your preferred drop spot when you order, and flag any access concerns — gates, narrow drives, soft ground — ahead of time.

Do I need to install the sod the same day it is delivered?

Yes — sod is a living product and should be laid the day it arrives. Have your soil prepped and a plan in place before delivery. See why sod needs to be laid immediately after delivery.

How do I prepare for my sod delivery?

Have the area cleared, graded, and topsoiled before delivery day so the sod can go straight down. See how to prep your yard for sod and the best topsoil for sod.

How do I order sod for delivery to Claremont?

Call (203) 806-4086. We will confirm your variety, square footage, price, and a delivery date, then deliver fresh-cut sod to your Claremont property.

Our lot is out on the West Claremont terraces along the Connecticut River, in full sun. What sod holds up?

On the sandy river-terrace soils out toward West Claremont and the open full-sun lots off the Washington Street corridor, Tall Fescue is the call — its roots reach several feet down for the drought tolerance sandy terrace ground demands through a dry August.

Our older block off Maple Avenue sits under heavy afternoon shade. What sod works?

On the older tree-lined blocks off Maple Avenue and North Street where mature canopy throws heavy afternoon shade, the bluegrass-fescue blend is the call — the bluegrass brings the rich color and the tall fescue adds the deep roots and resilience.

Our driveway climbs steep out of the Sugar River valley. Where do the pallets go?

On a steep Claremont grade, the forklift carries each pallet off the truck and onto the property where your crew is working rather than leaving it at the road. Tell us if your driveway is steep, narrow, or shared when you order and we'll plan the run.
