The amount of sod that comes on each pallet generally depends on where you are. In CT and MA standard pallets contain 500 square feet, or 50 sod rolls. On request up to 600 square feet of sod can be put on a pallet.
In NY and NJ sod pallets are typically 600 square feet, or 60 sod rolls. This is because of the different regulations with trucks and axle weights allowing for more sod on each shipment.
No matter where you live you are unlikely to ever see more than 600 square feet of sod on a pallet, as adding additional sod will then become unsafe to transport.
